Something New – Weekly Winners, Dec 27 – Jan 2

Since I’m trying to take my photography more seriously this year I have decided to do the Project 365 Challenge. Instead of posting a picture on my blog everyday (well lets be honest, I just couldn’t figure out how to do it in a way that wasn’t obnoxious or time consuming) I’ve decided to just do a roundup every week. I’m sure most of my pictures will be of Chaser, but I’m going to try to learn some new techniques both with my camera and in Photoshop.  Heather (she’s so smart) told me I should link up with Lotus’ Weekly Winners because I could get lots of awesome inspiration. So that’s the plan, here is the first roundup (hopefully of 52).

Day #1Day 1/365

Day #2Day 2/365

Day #3Day 3/365

Go over and visit Lotus and check out the rest of the weekly winners.

Chase – 7 months

Chaser -

This month flew by, absolutely flew. Every day you do something that just takes my breath away. You are becoming a little boy. Traces of your babyhood slip away every day, making me weepy and excited all at the same time.

The biggest thing that happened this month was the putting away of the infant carrier car seat. We boxed it up and put it in storage and moved you to your big boy seat. It’s still rear facing of course, don’t worry I’m not breaking any laws. Let me tell you, it took me a week or so to get the hang of not having that carrier to tote you around in. Luckily you really like your new fancy pants stroller with the reclining seat so you can still sleep in it.

Your first Thanksgiving came and went without a hitch. You cooed at all the right times and slept at all the right times and pretty much played the part of perfect baby. You had your first taste of whipped cream and you were not shy about letting me know that you would like to have it become a permanent part of your diet.

Your dad and I finally got our shit together and had you baptized as well. I’m not sure why it took us so long but what can I say, I lose track of time these days. You continued on with your angel routine that you started at Thanksgiving and behaved like a little gentleman. You weren’t exactly thrilled at getting water dripped on your head but you held your distaste to a slight glare at the pastor, at least thats what everyone tells me. I wouldn’t know, I can’t remember anything except for how close you came to throwing up in the baptismal font. Now THAT would have been embarrassing. As it was, you managed to aim it right down my front. I managed to hide it and no one was the wiser, except your  Godparents, even your dad failed to notice (see your Godfather’s face in the picture below).

It’s hard to believe that as I’m writing this we are already into your eighth month, you’ve had your first Christmas and your first birthday is just around the corner. I love you more every day.

Love
Mama

Cartoons are the Devil!

I’ve started letting Chase watch cartoons.

Clearly this is the beginning of the end for him. He is destined to be a TV watcher like me.

He likes the TV and it holds his interest, allowing me to do things like bathe without listening to him scream for me.

Prior to having children I was adamant about what I would and would not allow my children to watch. Don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying I’m all about him watching educational, healthy cartoons or anything, I just think most cartoons these days are dumb as shit. Examples; Pokemon, anything involving anime looking characters, teletubbies, Barney, trust me the list goes on and on.What happened to good cartoons like Fraggle Rock, The Care Bears and Tailspin?

Anyway I have relented and throughout the morning I flip through all the cartoon-ish kid channels trying to find the least annoying thing on. Let me just say that sometimes it’s a challenge. Most of the time we rotate between Yo Gabba Gabba, Wonderpets, some silly show with a small Chinese girl and Dora.

I’m going to have to rethink being in the room while he is watching these cartoons because yesterday I found myself searching the cartoon channels for Wonderpets. What’s wrong with this you ask? Chase was asleep in the other room. I just wanted to hear the phone song. Clearly I wasn’t embarrassed enough when I realized what I was doing because I found myself searching for it on Youtube. Oh yes, I did.

May that song be stuck in YOUR head now.

Bloggy Holiday Card Exchange

I always knew Meghan was a bit demanding but she is really starting to press her luck. Her most recent offense is shaming me into doing holiday cards.

In all honesty I had passing thoughts of doing a card this year because you know people like them and we have a cute baby….blah, blah, blah. I surely would have talked myself out of it. But alas.

I can only say that the making of these cards took about an hour. Getting the photos for these cards? That took 3 days and 4 photo shoots, probably 8 hours worth of time.

There were tears.

Not just from him.

In the end, this is what I got…

Cute, right?

I couldn’t just leave it at that though.

I was sorely disappointed that my kid didn’t cry when I took him to see Santa for the first time, so I made use of the failed photo shoots and came up with this gem.

So there you have it.

My holiday cards.

Eventually I will get around to actually sending them out.

Sigh.
