Cartoons are the Devil!
I’ve started letting Chase watch cartoons.
Clearly this is the beginning of the end for him. He is destined to be a TV watcher like me.
He likes the TV and it holds his interest, allowing me to do things like bathe without listening to him scream for me.
Prior to having children I was adamant about what I would and would not allow my children to watch. Don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying I’m all about him watching educational, healthy cartoons or anything, I just think most cartoons these days are dumb as shit. Examples; Pokemon, anything involving anime looking characters, teletubbies, Barney, trust me the list goes on and on.What happened to good cartoons like Fraggle Rock, The Care Bears and Tailspin?
Anyway I have relented and throughout the morning I flip through all the cartoon-ish kid channels trying to find the least annoying thing on. Let me just say that sometimes it’s a challenge. Most of the time we rotate between Yo Gabba Gabba, Wonderpets, some silly show with a small Chinese girl and Dora.
I’m going to have to rethink being in the room while he is watching these cartoons because yesterday I found myself searching the cartoon channels for Wonderpets. What’s wrong with this you ask? Chase was asleep in the other room. I just wanted to hear the phone song. Clearly I wasn’t embarrassed enough when I realized what I was doing because I found myself searching for it on Youtube. Oh yes, I did.
May that song be stuck in YOUR head now.

Whatever, I like the Wonder Pets. However, we had to get the Wonder Pets Save the Baby Reindeer on DVD because it’s Catie’s favorite episode & the damn DVR erased it. And there are a couple of songs in that one that stick in my head for a million years and drive me INSANE.
OH! And if you ever see the one where the Wonder Pets save the baby beaver (*snicker*)? Catie started echoing the beaver saying “chuck, chuck, chuck” and Dave thought she was dropping f-bombs because her ch- sound isn’t very distinct. That might now be my favorite Wonder Pets episode ever. That and the one where they have to teach the puppy to go outside to “wee-wee, pee-pee, TIIIIINKLE!!!!”

The Wonder Pets are great, but Fraggle Rock was the greatest of all time!

Could be worse…could be the Backyardigans you’re looking for. Before you even HAVE kids. (Thanks, Graham.)

Dude, nothing compares to cartoons of the 80′s, even ones like My Little Ponies, which I remember to be ridiculously dramatic. And mercy, those Wonderpets are INTENSE.

Fraggle Rock is on Retro Teletoon. Now that I’ve typed that I’m pretty sure it’s a Canadian channel, but it is out there. Care Bears is on Treehouse here, but again, that’s a Canadian one. But I’m pretty sure both websites play episodes!

I seriously know what you mean. My husband laughs at me because I know all the them songs to the cartoons my children watch. It is bad when you go singing them through out the house.
